What is the impact of ice melt on sea level rise?
Funded by Europe, Submersion is a collaborative exhibition with CNRS glaciologists Gaël Durand and Anne Chapuis, the art school ÉSAD of Grenoble Valence, and Dominique Cunin, programming artist and researcher-teacher.

The red series focuses on individual ordinary action weighting the most into the carbon emission balance.

“Not taking a car to make a three-kilometre journey reduces our carbon footprint by 0.6 kg, avoiding 10 kg of glacier melt.”

“Feeding a pet generates 0.8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, which is equivalent to 13 tonnes of glacier melt.”

“Not taking one long-haul round-trip flight can reduce CO₂ emissions by about 1.9 tonnes, avoiding 30 tonnes of glacier melt.”

“Eating a vegetarian meal instead of beef results in 7 kg less CO₂ being released into the atmosphere, avoiding 110 kg of glacier melt.”
